Having not competed since 2021, Tyron Woodley has made a triumphant return to the combat sports scene. On December 19th, in Miami (USA), the wrestler will face Anderson Silva in boxing, but he hasn't forgotten his time in the UFC. In fact, the former welterweight champion (up to 77,1 kg) has reignited his rivalry with Kamaru Usman , the former king of the division, after Dana White made a controversial statement.
During an appearance on the Nigerian-born Henry Cejudo 's podcast 'Pound 4 Pound', the UFC president named him the greatest fighter in the history of the division. In making this choice, Dana left out Georges St-Pierre , a legend of MMA and considered by many to be the best athlete of all time in the division and also in MMA. When he learned of the UFC president's statement, Woodley was outraged.

In an interview with 'MMA Fighting', the veteran vehemently disagreed with Dana White and attacked Usman. Without mincing words, the athlete stated that his rival was only elevated to that level by the UFC president not because of his performances and achievements in the octagon, but because he is a professional sycophant and well-connected.
“Usman isn’t the greatest welterweight in history. He’s the biggest suck-up, the kind of guy who says, ‘Oh, let’s invite Uncle Dana to the podcast.’ He does it just to stay in Dana’s good graces. He accepts any offer. If you do that long enough, you’ll end up being one of those guys who get rewarded because they took last-minute fights, fought injured, didn’t complain about the money, didn’t ask for more, didn’t ask questions, always tried to be nice. He’s the biggest suck-up in the welterweight division. How can you say that? Once you say he’s better than GSP, nobody listens to you anymore,” said the veteran.

Tyron Woodley , 43, is an MMA legend. The American began his career in the sport in 2009 and fought his last fight in 2021. In the UFC, 'The Chosen One' was the welterweight champion and defended the title four times.
In his career, the athlete built a record consisting of 19 wins, seven losses, and one draw. His main victories were over Carlos Condit , Darren Till , Demian Maia , Josh Koscheck , Kelvin Gastelum , Robbie Lawler , and Stephen Thompson , among others.
