Diego Alemão reignited a rivalry that seemed to have cooled down behind the scenes of boxing. The winner of Big Brother Brazil 7, the former reality TV star publicly challenged four-time world champion Acelino Freitas, "Popó," and demanded that the fight, which was scheduled to be the main event of the seventh edition of the [Brazilian boxing competition], take place. Fight Music Show, in November.

The duel ended up not happening after the widespread confusion involving Popó and Wanderlei Silva at Spaten Fight Night 2 in September. On that occasion, the fighter from Bahia injured his left hand and got into a fight with members of the former UFC fighter's team, which made future commitments in the ring impossible.

Without mincing words, Diego Alemão decided to raise his voice. In posts on Instagram, he directly confronted Mamá Brito, president of... Fight Music ShowHe stated that he was ready to face Popó at a much higher weight than initially discussed.

"He told Brazil he was going to beat me with 70 kg. Talkers get what they deserve. I waited for your hand to get better, you said it wasn't made of stone anymore, now it's made of titanium... I want to see him keep his word," Alemão exclaimed.

The former Big Brother Brazil contestant also made it clear that his determination hasn't diminished over time and that he accepts confrontation under tougher conditions.

The criticism took on an even more aggressive tone when Diego looked ahead to next year's confrontation. According to him, there is no more room for backing down.

"In 2026, if he keeps his word, he'll have to deal with this mess weighing 98 kg and with blood in his eyes. You chose the wrong guy and, when you saw the size of the problem, you ran away," he stated.

In addition to the sporting frustration, Alemão revealed financial losses due to the cancellation of the fight, citing the loss of sponsorships and pay-per-view revenue.

“I fulfilled my contract to the letter, I accepted all the conditions. I lost sponsorships, a percentage of pay-per-view, I stopped earning millions. I want you, Popó. I want Mamá Brito to deliver this fight,” he emphasized.

Popó returns, but without an official fight.

While the provocations continue, Acelino Freitas recently confirmed his return to the boxing spotlight, but not in a competitive fight. This comes after announcing his retirement amidst the controversy with... Wanderlei SilvaPopó reversed his decision and was confirmed for the Jota Racing Challenge, scheduled for December 19th.

According to the organization, the four-time champion's participation will be in a sparring format, without an official fight, in an event that mixes motorsports, music, technology, and fighting.

So far, Popó has not publicly responded to Diego Alemão's provocations nor announced a new competitive commitment in boxing. The impasse remains open and, by all indications, far from cooling down.
