UFC sensation Carlos Prates is making the most of his career change. A die-hard Corinthians fan, the company's top welterweight (up to 77,1 kg) fighter had a different experience last Sunday (30). The member of the 'Fighting Nerds' team was present at the 'Neo Química Arena', in São Paulo, to support his beloved club against Botafogo in the Brasileirão.
On his official Instagram account, Prates documented every moment, from his trip to the stadium to his arrival in the VIP box. Walking through the backstage area of the arena, the fighter watched the Corinthians players warming up and even joked with striker Yuri Alberto, one of the team's key players.

On the pitch, Prates watched the players enter to take their positions. Radiating friendliness, the striker looked at 'The Nightmare', smiled, and adopted a fighting stance, eliciting a laugh from him. Upon his presence being announced at the stadium, the fighter was applauded by some of the fans and rejoiced in the public's affection. However, to Carlos's dismay, Corinthians only managed a 2-2 draw at home against Botafogo.
Fighting for the belt?
With his victories at UFC 322, an event held in November, the possibility of a fight between Carlos Prates and Islam Makhachev , the welterweight champion, arose. However, the Brazilian faces competition from other big names vying for the title. Ian Garry , Ilia Topuria , Kamaru Usman , Michael Morales , and Shavkat Rakhmonov also want to face the Russian and are asking the organization for the opportunity to challenge him.
