Jon Jones mocks Cormier after provocation and considers giving him a gift: 'He only thinks about me'

If last week Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov revived their rivalry, the same is true for Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones . As he was the target of provocation from his eternal opponent, 'Bones' did not let it go and responded harshly last Thursday (27) and this Monday (1st).

It all started when Jones, on his official 'X' account, not only revealed that he had been approached about the possibility of a charity fight against 'DC', but also stated that he accepted immediately and declared that he would beat him again. Recently, the greatest fighter in MMA history wasn't in the country, but in Chechnya. Therefore, Jones, who beat Cormier twice, but one of those victories was overturned a 'no contest' due to a failed doping test, made a point of reminding him that he caused so much damage to his career that he never managed to leave him in peace, not even on special occasions. After describing the veteran as a fan, 'Bones' considered giving him a controversial gift.

“Imagine a man who got beaten up… who, years later, is still thinking about how I spend my holidays. Brother, that’s not worrying. It’s a long-term lease, with services included. Maybe I should send one of those Khabib gifts to Cormier. That way, he could finally enjoy his vacation instead of thinking about me all the time,” wrote the MMA legend.

A controversial gift?

Last week, Khabib Nurmagomedov found himself at the center of a controversy and was accused by Conor McGregor of scamming his followers by promoting the sale of 'NFTs' inspired by the 'Papakha', a typical Dagestani hat. Later, after a heated argument with 'Notorious', the UFC Hall of Famer announced the end of the digital campaign. Since Cormier is a friend and fan of the Russian, Jones hinted that he would give him such a valuable cultural item.

What happened in the two fights?

In their first classic matchup, held in 2015, Jon Jones defeated Daniel Cormier by unanimous decision (49-46 3x) and defended his light heavyweight title (up to 93 kg) for the eighth time. In the highly anticipated rematch, which took place in 2017, 'Bones' knocked out 'DC', but the fight was declared a no-contest after he tested positive for the banned substance 'turinabol'. Even so, the athlete ignores the incident and considers himself the winner of the fight.
