Known for being one of the most feared strikers in combat sports, Alex Poatan justified his reputation. In a recent training session held at the 'Fusion X-cel Performance' gym in Florida (USA), the UFC light heavyweight champion (up to 93 kg) displayed his power, and it was his training partner, Neil, who suffered. The Brazilian ended up delivering a brutal knockout.
In the recording released by the user '@standupstriking', last Saturday (29), the renowned striker showed no mercy to his training partner. On two occasions, Poatan made his 'opponent' collapse by landing two powerful punches to his waistline.

Even after taking the worst of it, the athlete got up and continued the sparring session. Dominant, Poatan delivered punches to the midsection, jabs, and straight punches to his partner's face. Seeing Neil back down, the Brazilian continued the attack and landed a left cross to his chin, knocking him out instantly.
Speculation and clarification
As the content went viral, fans began to theorize about what led Alex Poatan to not hold back during sparring. Many, even those not present at the gym, claimed that the Brazilian's training partner had gotten under his skin and that's why he suffered at his hands. However, the user who shared the video denied the rumor, explaining that Neil, his friend, only wanted to test himself and also stressed that the UFC champion had no intention of harming him.
“What’s the context? Not everything is emotional or dramatic. He wanted to train, he trained, and he went down. There was nothing beforehand. That’s all, folks. It wasn’t intentional. He wasn’t throwing punches with bad intentions. It was just a difference in skill level. Neil is an amazing person who just wanted to test his skills,” commented 'standupstriking' in his post.
