The first of them is in the heavyweight category. Currently ranked fifth in the division rankings, Travis Browne will face Matt Mitrione, ranked 13th. Browne is coming off a defeat to Andrei Arlovski in May, at UFC 187; Mitrione was finished by Ben Rothwell in June.

The card will also feature a duel between veterans of the middleweight division, between Tim Boetsch and Ed Herman. Boetsch comes from two setbacks in a row, to Thales leites and, more recently, to Dan Henderson, while Herman lost to Derek Brunson in January.

The two main fights for UFC Fight Night 81 have already been announced in the past. In the most important attraction, TJ Dillashaw will defend the UFC bantamweight belt again against the former champion Dominick Cruz; in the co-main fight, Anthony Pettis faces Eddie Alvarez.
