Johnny Walker may have the answer to Michel Pereira 's poor run in the UFC. After racking up eight straight wins, the 'flying Paraense' saw his winning streak turn around within the organization and now has three consecutive losses; a sequence that may be linked to his poor training management, as pointed out by his training partner.
In an interview with 'Ag Fight', Johnny Walker pointed out that Michel Pereira has difficulty maintaining regularity at the gym and usually only trains when he has a fight scheduled. For the light heavyweight division (up to 93kg), while future opponents maintain their routine even without confirmed fights, 'Chechel' focuses his efforts on weight training, which doesn't replace the technical work necessary to improve in the sport.

“Michel is incredibly lazy. It’s rare to see him at the gym; he only trains when he has a fight scheduled. You have to train even without a fight scheduled, right, man? The guys who are going to face him are training without having a fight scheduled… He does a lot of weight training, but weight training doesn’t win fights. You have to train fighting to improve, learn different techniques and evolve,” said Johnny Walker.
Michel Pereira is experiencing instability after a promising start in the middleweight division.
After leaving the welterweight division (up to 77 kg) and moving up to middleweight (up to 83,9 kg), Michel Pereira impressed the new division by quickly knocking out three opponents, totaling just over three minutes of action in the octagon. However, in his first opportunity against a ranked athlete, the "flying Paraense" couldn't keep up with Anthony Hernandez 's pace and ended up being knocked out in the fifth round.
Subsequently, Pereira had the chance to recover against Abus Magomedov , but delivered a lackluster performance and was defeated by unanimous decision. The third setback came in less than a minute of fighting, when he was knocked out by Kyle Daukaus , a fighter who was out of the UFC and accepted the fight at the last minute.
