Former UFC champion promises to destroy Anderson Silva in a Netflix boxing match: 'I'm going to hurt him'

Without competing since 2021, Tyron Woodley is back in action. On December 19th, in Miami (USA), the American will face Anderson Silva in a fight between former UFC champions, which will be broadcast on Netflix. But, despite the time away from combat sports, 'The Chosen One' hasn't lost his composure and showed confidence for the challenge against the MMA legend.

In an interview with 'TMZ Sports', Woodley acknowledged the Brazilian's importance in the history of the sport, but, being known for his knockout power, promised to punish him in boxing. It's true that, in boxing, the American didn't achieve good results.

So far, the former UFC welterweight champion (up to 77,1 kg) has fought twice in the ring and lost both to Jake Paul , being brutally knocked out in the rematch. However, Woodley, who is a wrestler by origin, is convinced that he will rediscover his violent side and that he has what it takes to take the striking specialist to the canvas.

“It’s a fight I never thought would happen. It’s someone I admired. He was the best of all time. He did things his way. He went in and won. But I’m going to hurt him. I know. I’m going to box him, throw some punches at him. I feel like I can do it. This is the Woodley people want to see, the ruthless person who knocked everyone out. I won’t be stupid, I never have been. I know the best path to victory in this fight and I’m going to follow it the whole time. Anderson, I love you, brother. But I’m not just going to step on the spider. I’m going to step on it, crush it, and twist it,” said the veteran.

Anderson Silva and Tyron Woodley will face off at the Netflix event headlined by the Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua fight. The 43-year-old American, at his peak, was dominant in the UFC welterweight division, making four title defenses. Meanwhile, the 50-year-old Brazilian made his mark as the company's middleweight champion (up to 83,9 kg). At his peak, 'The Spider' defended the division title ten times.
