Khamzat Chimaev will have a long hiatus before returning to the Ultimate Fighting Championship octagon. The Chechen fighter, who won the middleweight title (up to 83,9 kg) by dominating Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 319, suffered an injury and will undergo minor surgery. Despite the setback, the champion remains willing to face any opponent the organization puts in his path.
In a statement to journalist Adam Zubayraev, Chimaev explained that his return will only take place after Ramadan, scheduled for March. The champion revealed that he will undergo a minor procedure on his foot and will be away from training for a few weeks to allow for a full recovery from the injury.

With no return to the octagon in sight or his next opponent defined, Khamzat Chimaev has been using his time off to support his teammates. The middleweight champion traveled to the Middle East to support Arman Tsarukyan , who will be fighting in the main event of UFC Qatar against Dan Hooker next Saturday (22).
