Ian Garry is constantly seeking to evolve in MMA to become one of the most complete fighters. This Saturday (22), at UFC Qatar, the Irishman faces Belal Muhammad , in a fight of extreme importance for the welterweight division (up to 77,1 kg), and aims to put into practice all the teachings acquired at the 'Chute Boxe Diego Lima' team. And, when projecting the future, 'The Future' is already considering a significant change in his career.

During the event's 'media day', Garry, who wants to impress against the former champion in order to challenge Islam Makhachev , the current title holder, reveals that he may soon train in the Caucasus region to improve his wrestling. And the Irishman's initiative is not surprising.

The athlete is known for training with different teams to gain knowledge and improve his game. Since the region boasts UFC champions and numerous grappling specialists, Garry plans to visit with an eye on a potential match against the formidable Russian.

“100%, for sure, is something I’ve been thinking about. When we look at Georgians, Chechens, and Russians, they fight wrestling differently. They have a different style, rhythm, and intensity. For sure, if you want to be a world-class fighter in all areas of MMA, that’s the place to go and learn,” said the UFC welterweight champion.

Ian Garry , 28, is a standout in the UFC welterweight division and one of the most intelligent fighters in MMA. Currently, the Irishman is ranked sixth in the division. If he defeats former champion Belal Muhammad , he should move into second place, putting him very close to a title shot against Islam Makhachev next.
