Islam Makhachev answered numerous questions from fans and media members around the world with his completely dominant performance against Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 322. Among them was the question of how the Russian would adapt to the welterweight division (up to 77,1 kg) after spending his entire career in the lightweight division (up to 70,3 kg). In this context, a video published by the Anatomy of a Fighter channel answered one of the main speculations about the fight by showing the champion's weight on the day of the fight.

The video shows behind-the-scenes footage of last Saturday's event (15), at Madison Square Garden. In it, it is possible to see Makhachev, Khabib Nurmagomedov and a UFC employee checking the fighter's weight on a digital scale hours before the main event of the night. Accurately, the scale showed that the Russian entered the octagon weighing almost 86 kg, nine more than the limit of the new category.

For comparison, Ian Garry weighed almost 82 kg when he faced Geoff Neal last year. The Irishman faces Belal Muhammad in the co-main event of UFC Qatar next Saturday (22) and in case of victory he could move ahead of names like Michael Morales and Carlos Prates to become the first opponent to try to take the belt from Islam Makhachev.
