While Carlos Prates was one of the highlights of the UFC 322 press conference and enjoyed the affection of fans, his standing with Dana White isn't so high. In fact, the Brazilian received some bad news at the ceremony held last Thursday (13) in New York (USA). In short, the organization's president informed him that the next challenger for the welterweight title (up to 77,1 kg) will not be the member of the 'Fighting Nerds' team, in case of a victory over Leon Edwards this Saturday (15).
When asked by a journalist whether the winner of Sean Brady vs. Michael Morales would be the next challenger for the welterweight title, facing current champion Jack Della Maddalena or Islam Makhachev , Dana White was brief and to the point. Generally, the UFC president tends to keep the company's decisions a secret, but this time he surprised everyone.

The official confirmed that the plan is to reward whoever triumphs in the important fight. Therefore, Prates will have to beat Leon Edwards this Saturday and, necessarily, have at least one more fight if he wants to compete for the welterweight title.
"Of course!", said the UFC president.
The choice makes sense.
UFC 322 highlights the welterweight division. The main event pits champion Jack Della Maddalena against Islam Makhachev , former lightweight king (up to 70,3 kg). Also in the main portion of the event, Sean Brady and Michael Morales , who are currently in great form in MMA, will face off in a highly anticipated matchup.
The American won three fights in a row and consolidated his second position in the weight class rankings. The Ecuadorian, on the other hand, is undefeated in MMA and has six wins in the UFC. As a result, he climbed the rankings to eighth place. Meanwhile, Carlos Prates is number nine in the division.
