Leon Edwards is excited to face Carlos Prates . The Briton will face the Brazilian at UFC 322, scheduled for next Saturday (15), and believes that this is the ideal opportunity to “speed up” the pace inside the octagon.
In an interview with Ariel Helwani, Leon Edwards revealed his enthusiasm for returning to a three-round fight after six years competing in longer bouts. The former welterweight champion highlighted that the shorter format demands a faster pace and a more aggressive approach, something he intends to exploit against Carlos Prates.

“It’s been six years since my last three-round fight… They’re two different fighting styles too. I’ve only faced wrestlers. Now I’ll be able to show more skills, and it’s going to be a great fight. In three-round fights, you want to try to pick up the pace. That’s my mentality for this fight,” said Leon Edwards.
After dominant losses to Belal Muhammad and Sean Brady , Leon Edwards has the chance to prove he still belongs at the top of the welterweight division (up to 77 kg) at UFC 322. The former champion defends his fourth-place ranking in the division. Carlos Prates , on the other hand, is ranked ninth and comes from a brutal victory over Geoff Neal at UFC 319, after losing his undefeated record in the Ultimate to Ian Garry.
