Former UFC fighter Godofredo Pepey dies at age 38 in US prison.

MMA has said goodbye to another professional. Former UFC fighter, Godofredo Castro, died at the age of 38 in the United States. The news was released by journalist Leo Guimarães, last Sunday (9), and confirmed by Gaudênio Santiago, lawyer for Pepey 's wife.

The latest news involving Pepey was a controversial case. In July, the former wrestler was arrested in Florida (USA), accused of kidnapping his wife, Samara Mello, and committing domestic violence against her. Months later, the journalist and his lawyer reported that Godofredo was found dead in prison.

Details surrounding Pepey 's death have not been released by local authorities. According to Gaudênio, his client is the only legal representative authorized by U.S. authorities for the release and repatriation of the body, but she is distraught by what happened.

Who was Pepey?

Godofredo Castro began his MMA career in 2003 and gained national fame after participating in TUF Brazil 1. Competing on the show, he was a finalist but lost to Rony Jason in 2012. Nevertheless, Pepey was signed by the UFC. With the organization, the Brazilian fought 11 times, winning five and losing six. His main victory was over Andre Fili.
