After the news that Jon Jones and their lawyers will try to reach an agreement before the accident case is judged in which the fighter was involved and still left the scene without providing assistance to the victim, the hearing in which the fate of the former UFC champion could be sealed finally had its date set – and it will happen much sooner than previously imagined.

According to the New Mexico state court, Jones will be heard in a “plea hearing” (preliminary hearing in the North American judicial system in which the defendant pleads guilty or innocent and, eventually, negotiations take place for an agreement between the parties) in the next September 29th, Monday, in Albuquerque (USA), at 8:30 am local time, 5:30 am Brasília time.
On April 26, Jones ran a red light in a rented SUV and struck a car driven by a pregnant woman. Afterwards, the fighter fled the scene on foot, briefly returning to his car to retrieve a quantity of money that was there. Police found drugs at the scene and Jones was arrested shortly thereafter. The UFC then stripped him of his light heavyweight belt and suspended him indefinitely.
At 28, Jon Jones He is one of the biggest names in the history of MMA and has a professional record of 21 wins and only one loss – by disqualification after an illegal blow, in a result that generates controversy to this day. In his last appearance in the Octagon, in January, Jones beat Daniel Cormier in the main fight of UFC 182. Coincidentally, Cormier was chosen to replace him after all the police controversy and ended up winning the vacant title in the 93 kg category.
