The champion's statement had already irritated the UFC president, and now, with the Croatian's addition, the controversy is growing again. During a press conference at the event's Media Day, Ante Delija was direct when questioned about the possibility of a future fight against Aspinall.

"I wouldn't fight him for the belt either," said Ante Delija.

In an interview with TNT Sports, Dana White harshly criticized the stance of the two heavyweights and called their refusal to fight as inconceivable.
