Marcos Parrumpinha has strong criticisms of performance de Jailton Malhadinho No. UFC 321, held last Saturday (25). The heavyweight faced off against Alexander Volkov and, after three lukewarm rounds, he ended up losing by split decision, which, in the opinion of the American Top Team coach, was due to the athlete's fighting style.
Participating in the podcast 'MMA Hoje', Parrumpinha praised the level of takedowns and positional control of Jailton Malhadinho, however, he criticized the lack of ground and pound in the Bahian's performance.
"Malhadinho has a very good combination of wrestling and control, but he has a serious problem: he doesn't strike! Zero. He doesn't even throw a punch or an elbow. When I said this, two or three idiots criticized me because I said it wasn't possible for Malhadinho to be swept by Spivac. My brother, he was swept again by Volkov. I don't know if he shifted his weight the wrong way, I don't know, but I didn't like his performance. I liked the takedowns; he gave a masterclass in takedowns, but on the ground, he makes mistakes," said Parrumpinha.

Without hesitation, Malhadinho began the fight by taking down the giant Russian. From below, Volkov landed elbows on the Brazilian and was warned by the referee for hitting him in the back of the head. Calmly, Malhadinho controlled his opponent but didn't cause significant damage. Cool, the Russian reversed position and got on top, landing powerful elbows and punches.
In the second round, Malhadinho quickly took the Russian down again, receiving loud boos from the crowd. Volkov managed to get up, but the Brazilian landed another takedown and took his back. Unable to be effective on the ground, the referee ordered the athletes to stand up. Malhadinho immediately took the Russian down and received more boos. This time, the Brazilian was a bit more aggressive.
In the third and final round, Volkov attacked, but the Brazilian quickly sought a takedown. This time, Malhadinho was unsuccessful. In the clinch against the fence, the Russian landed knees on his opponent. Malhadinho cleverly took him down, but again did little damage. Even from the bottom, Volkov, irritated, attempted a triangle choke on the Brazilian. After the Russian's attack, Malhadinho showed more action, but nothing more. The referee again ordered the pair to stand. Without hesitation, Malhadinho took the Russian down again, but landed few strikes.
