The wait is over. Jon Jones finally responded to the challenge launched by Alex Poatan in early October and did it in grand style. During the broadcast of UFC 321On Saturday (25), the former light heavyweight (up to 93kg) and heavyweight (up to 120,2kg) champion posted a message on social media accepting the fight with the Brazilian.
On his official X account, Jones preached respect for Poatan, but accepted that the fight will take place at the event that the UFC plans to hold at the White House in July 2026.

"Alex, I would love to bring the highest level of skill to the White House. I appreciate the respect you've shown, let's dance," Bones wrote.
Since the retirement of Jon Jones been considered, there was speculation as to whether the American would compete again. Poatan's challenge came after the Brazilian knocked out Magomed Ankalayev and regain the 93kg belt. The timing of the response also drew attention: it occurred right after the duel between Tom aspinall e Cyryl Gane end in a No Contest due to an accidental blow.

With Jon Jones vs. Poatan, UFC at the White House begins to heat up
UFC at the White House is currently scheduled to take place on June 14, 2026. Originally, the date considered was July 4, 2026, to coincide with the 250th anniversary of the United States' independence.
However, the date was changed and President Donald Trump confirmed in October 2025 that the event will take place on June 14, which is also his 80th birthday.
