Wide favorite to defend the heavyweight belt (up to 120,2 kg) for the first time this Saturday (25), Tom aspinall doesn't seem to share the same 'hype' as some fans and members of the media regarding Cyryl Gane. As confident as he is of another triumph this weekend, the Briton was calm when addressing likely scenarios for the duel with the Frenchman.

Aspinall, who never made it past the second round as a professional fighter and is on a streak of three consecutive knockouts in less than 80 seconds, expressed respect for his rival and wasn't eager to secure another quick victory. In fact, he envisions a long duel.

“I think everyone sees me doing quick knockouts and things like that, but this time I think I can win by split decision in a fight with a lot of jabs,” said the Englishman in an interview with reporter Jon-Bernard Kairouz.

While Aspinall never made it past the second round as a professional, Gane is more experienced in this regard. At 35 years old and a member of Ultimat since 2019, the Frenchman has already reached the feat six times and has never lost by knockout.
