Ngannou, Jon Jones, or Aspinall? Ciryl Gane Reveals the UFC Title Fight He Felt the Most Pressure In

Experienced and accustomed to big fights, the Frenchman downplayed the size of the fight against the Englishman at UFC 321

Despite being part of the new generation of heavyweights (up to 120,2 kg), Cyryl Gane has plenty of experience in MMA. In fact, this Saturday (25), in Abu Dhabi (UAE), the Frenchman will try to become linear champion of the category for the third time, when he will face Tom aspinall in the main fight of UFC 321And, for this match, 'Bon Gamin' hasn't forgotten the previous duels, much less the lessons he learned.

When asked by a journalist which title fight put him under the most pressure, Gane, experienced and accustomed to big fights, opened up. It's worth remembering that, before Aspinall, the Frenchman challenged Francis Ngannou, on 2022, Jon Jones, in 2023, and got the worst of it for both.

“The feeling? I have experience now. It’s less pressure. I remember my first big fight against Ngannou. I remember, because the narrative and the week of the fight were huge, lots of media commitments. More pressure for Ngannou, a little less for Jones and less for Aspinall,” said the Frenchman at the media day of the event. UFC 321, held last Wednesday (22).

How were the fights?

In his first linear belt dispute, Cyryl Gane presented himself better than the powerful and feared Francis Ngannou in the exchange. However, the Frenchman was surprised by his former wrestling training partner and was upset, losing by unanimous decision.

In the second title fight, Gane was no match for Jon Jones and lost quickly. Locked in the octagon, the Frenchman was submitted by the MMA legend in just over two minutes of fighting.
