Israel adesanya considers Tom aspinall heavyweight champion (up to 120,2 kg) even before his retirement Jon Jones. On his 'Freestylebender' YouTube channel, the organization's former champion says the Englishman should count on a possible victory over Cyryl Gane as a second belt defense.
"Interim or not, he was always a UFC champion. Just because he wasn't a linear champion doesn't change that," Adesanya said.

At 36, Adesanya is still recovering mentally and physically from his third consecutive loss in February of this year. The Nigerian, a former middleweight champion (up to 83,9 kg), has been focusing on training, but his future in MMA remains uncertain.
Meanwhile, Tom seeks to solidify his position among the world's best heavyweights. This is the first defense of the undisputed belt he won after Jones' departure. A victory would be a milestone in the British fighter's career, ending the saga that involved the former champion refusing to face him.
Cyryl Gane, on the other hand, faces his third attempt to win the undisputed title. The Frenchman has already been defeated in previous contests by Francis Ngannou e Jon Jones and is now seeking to definitively establish itself as the division's protagonist.
