Currently ranked 10th in the featherweight rankings (up to 65,7 kg) and eager to gain the opportunity to take revenge on Diego lopes as soon as possible, Jean Silva doesn't hesitate to reveal his plan to reach his compatriot next. Although he hopes the Manaus native will fight for the belt again in his next fight, 'Lord' doesn't believe that will happen.
Previously seeking confrontation against Yair Rodriguez, the Fighting Nerds representative seems to be willing to face a fighter lower in the rankings currently, so that the planning works out.

"Lerone murphy fight for the belt, Yair Rodriguez against Diego and (Movsar) Evloev, where will he go? Not me. They won't give me the number one ranking. I won't have the credibility. Then maybe I would ask for the Dan Ige, even though I’m above (in the ranking),” said Jean in an interview with Corner Cast.
When explaining why he shouldn't rule out an unusual opponent, Jean highlighted the mathematics behind the duel and guaranteed that a resounding victory could impress officials, leading him to a rematch against Diego in the near future.
“Because then the Dan Ige, in my head, it's just my way of thinking, because Ige fought Diego, threw good hands that almost knocked Diego out against the fence, and then me knocking him out, it has a different impact. Like: 'Diego didn't do that,' then it generates that doubt I mentioned, the 'what if.' What if I hadn't taken the takedown (against Diego)? So, I knock him out, and then (they think): 'The guy knocked Ige out, Diego didn't knock him out, Jean didn't take the takedown and knocked him out.' What if Jean hadn't been taken down by Diego? Would Diego have stayed standing? There will be this spark, maybe we'll fight first," he concluded.
Despite all the talk, the UFC has not yet officially announced what the next steps will be for the elite featherweight athletes. Alexander Volkanovsky and members of the top 5 still do not have fights announced, although the Australian believes he will defend his title in his home country in February.
