In the latest episode of Countdown for UFC 321, the athlete's coach quickly discussed Gane's fighting style and compared it to his son's skills, concluding that the fight should be comfortably won by Aspinall.

“ Cyryl Gane is a good striker. You know, he’s a kickboxer who lands punches. He finishes fights, but he needs a lot of strikes to finish his opponents. Tom is much more precise. I don’t think Gane’s skill set will cause Tom any problems at all,” he stated.

With only one loss in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), caused by a knee injury against Curtis Blaydes , the Englishman became interim champion after knocking out Sergei Pavlovich , thus establishing himself as the clear challenger for the undisputed title against Jon Jones . However, Jones avoided the fight and announced his retirement last year, so Aspinall was promoted to the top spot in the division.
