Alex Poatan's victim reinforces his desire for a new UFC rematch: 'That's what I'm going for'

Jiri Prochazka wants to face Alex Poatan for the third time in the UFC. The former champion has already been knocked out by the Pataxó fighter twice and, now, after accumulating two victories, feels he is ready to try again.

In an interview with 'MMA Fighting', Jiri Prochazka made it clear that his desire is to have another chance to face Alex Poatan and win the light heavyweight title (up to 93 kg). However, the Czech fighter stated that he is prepared to face whoever is in the UFC's plans.

“Whatever the UFC wants to do. Right now, what I really want is to face Alex for the third time. I’m ready for whoever it is, but what I really think, and know at this moment, is that I’m ready to fight for the title. Ready to take that belt back to the Czech Republic, and that’s what I’m going to pursue,” said Jiri Prochazka.

Jiri Prochazka watched Alex Poatan 's performance at UFC 320 from the front row and, despite the difficulties the Brazilian faced in his first fight against Magomed Ankalaev , the Samurai wasn't surprised by the devastating knockout in the rematch. The Czech fighter stated that he saw the spirit of each of the protagonists and knew it would be a different fight.

“No, no, I wasn't that surprised. Because when I saw Alex and saw how fit he was and how well his training was going… I saw Alex's spirit and I saw Ankalaev's spirit, and then I said to myself, 'Man, this is a different story than the last one.'… So, I'm happy that he won, but that's it.”

Although Jiri Prochazka has eliminated some of the competition to face Alex Poatan , there is still an unprecedented challenge for the Brazilian in the light heavyweight division: Carlos Ulberg , training partner of Israel Adesanya . In addition to the New Zealander, Poatan's throne is also threatened by Khamzat Chimaev , the middleweight champion (up to 83,9 kg), who has shown interest in moving up a weight class for a super fight.

Another factor that could hinder Prochazka's plans to face Poatan is the Brazilian's possible move up to heavyweight (up to 120,2 kg).
