Alex Poatan is outraged by criticism from Brazilian reporters: 'They're trying to take advantage'

Alex Poatan once again addressed criticism from fans and journalists this week. In an interview with 'MMA Hoje', the Brazilian, current UFC light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg), stated that he is frequently bothered by interpretations he considers unfair and said that he prefers to fight for challenges, not for fame or money.

Poatan commented that some Brazilian press and fans are trying to 'take advantage' by spreading distorted information about him.

"I argue a lot with reporters, especially Brazilian ones. Sometimes I see them trying to take advantage. They tell two versions: the one that happens, he remembers. The other, he forgets. It's like the guy who says, 'Poatan's ground is half-baked, but I like him and I'm rooting for him.' It's either one or the other," he said.

After overwhelming Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 320, winning by knockout in just 1 minute and 20 seconds and regaining the light heavyweight title, Poatan rose to 6th place in the UFC's pound-for-pound rankings.

The Brazilian closed the door on a super fight against Khamzat Chimaev , but maintains ambitious plans for the future, including heavyweight bouts (up to 120,2kg) and a possible fight against Jon Jones on a card at the White House. True to his irreverent personality, Alex celebrated the victory by visiting a tire shop with his UFC belt.
