Alex Poatán gave bad news to Khamzat Shimaev. Last Friday (10), in Rio de Janeiro, the Brazilian participated in a question and answer session with fans and, when asked if he would face his rival, closed the doors for the UFC champions' superfight to take place next.
It's worth noting that the Russian has already expressed his desire to face the renowned striker three times in less than a month. Previously, Poatan thanked 'Borz' for congratulating him on regaining the light heavyweight (up to 93 kg) belt, but made it clear that he isn't his focus. Now, the Brazilian emphasizes that his main goal is to face off against Jon Jones in the heavyweight division (up to 120,2 kg) at UFC Casa Branca.

"It's not in my plans. That's not my focus. I respect the fighters, whoever wants to face me, but unfortunately, not now," said the UFC champion.
Poatan 'suffers' with Chimaev
After receiving the first no from Alex Poatán, the middleweight champion (up to 83,9 kg) was irritated. Chimaev promised to hunt the Brazilian down to the heavyweight division. Not satisfied, 'Borz' classified the light heavyweight champion as a relatively easy fight and downplayed his strength.
History of the rivalry
In the past, Chimaev and Poatan exchanged constant and public provocations. At the height of their rivalry, the Russian vowed to crush the renowned striker. Angered, the Brazilian called the wrestler to fight in Brazil.
