Alex Poatan confirms plans to box after UFC career: 'I want to be the best'

Current UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Poatan announces he wants to move to boxing and challenge new rivals.

Alex Poatán confirmed that he intends to pursue a career in boxing after his MMA career. According to the Brazilian, in an interview with 'Connect Cast,' the change is not motivated solely by money, but by the desire to face new challenges after his career in the UFC, where he is the current light heavyweight champion (up to 93 kg).

"I'm going to box. I've made it clear that I want to box. When I started kickboxing, no one believed in me. In MMA, the same thing. In boxing, they'll say the same. I'm used to it. I don't care. I just want to fight. It's not just about the money; I like the challenge. I want to be the best," said Poatan.

UFC star, Alex Poatán He has experience in professional boxing and competed in the sport before becoming a star, although his career is more established in kickboxing and MMA. The Brazilian has won multiple titles in Glory Kickboxing and the UFC, in addition to having competed in a professional boxing match in 2017.

Among future plans, Alex mentioned the possibility of a superfight against Oleksandr Usyk, the current world heavyweight boxing champion.
