The controversial boxing match between Popó and Wanderlei Silva, held at Spaten Fight Night 2, generated repercussions again this Wednesday (15) after Fabricio WerdumUFC champion, revealed the millions in payments he made to his athletes. The statements were made during an appearance on the Festa da Firma podcast, hosted by Wellington Muniz, also known as Ceará.
According to Werdum, Wanderlei Silva would have received US$1,2 million (approximately R$7,2 million) to face Popó.

"Wanderlei won because he signed a contract in dollars. It was US$1,2 million. Because he had to have a contract with another event, and then Spaten covered that contract. I heard Popó won a million reais. I'm not sure, but that's what I heard," said the fighter.
The fight, held on September 27, ended with Popó's victory by disqualification. Wanderlei Silva He committed repeated violations of boxing rules, including headbutts, and was warned several times by the referee. In the fourth round, after the third warning and for disregarding the referee's commands, Wanderlei was disqualified.
After the victory, chaos broke out in the ring. Both fighters' teams engaged in a brawl, during which Wanderlei Silva was knocked out by Rafael Freitas, Popó's son, and had to be hospitalized.
