Lightweight standout reveals behind the scenes of Charles do Bronx's next fight: 'I heard rumors'

Charles Oliveira had "gigantic timing" in agreeing to return to the octagon shortly after suffering a brutal knockout. The Brazilian submitted Mateusz Gamrot in the main event of UFC Rio, held on October 11th, shortly after being defeated by Ilia Topuria at UFC 317 on June 28th. The former champion's decision was heavily criticized by fans, but after the victory, Dan Hooker pointed out that he could reap the rewards of that choice.

In an interview with SkySportsNZ, Hooker described Charles' quick return as a big gamble. The New Zealander revealed that he had already heard rumors about the Brazilian's next move and, according to him, it could be a BMF title fight against Max Holloway.

"It was a big gamble for Charles to take this fight just three and a half months after that devastating knockout, but the guy is back in contention, and it looks like they're going to have Charles vs. Max for BMF. I heard rumors that they were trying to make this fight before Charles wins again," Hooker said.

After defeating Mateusz Gamrot , Charles Oliveira wasted no time and challenged Holloway to a fight for the symbolic belt at UFC White House . The Hawaiian accepted the challenge, but showed no rush for the fight to happen.

Meanwhile, Hooker is preparing to face Arman Tsarukyan in the main event of UFC Qatar, scheduled for November 12th — a fight that could earn the New Zealander a spot in the lightweight title fight.
