Chosen to replace Raphael Fiziev at UFC Rio, Mateusz gamrot not only celebrated a great opportunity to face Charles of the Bronx, but also expressed confidence in overcoming his rival in his specialty: grappling. A slight favorite with bookmakers on the eve of the fight, the Polish fighter promised to silence the Marvelous City's audience with a dominant performance.
Despite all the positive feedback, Gamrot was ultimately defeated by the former champion and quickly acknowledged the Brazilian's victory. After issuing a poetic apology on social media, the athlete now sent a message to his tormentor, promising to return to Brazil to pursue greater knowledge in MMA.

"It was a great honor to share the octagon with you, Charles. Thank you, Brazil, for the week and the special atmosphere. It was an exceptional time, and I'm definitely coming back from this as a different person. I'll be back here again to learn more," Gamrot declared on his official Instagram account.
Keeping an eye on the publication, Diego Lima, Do Bronx's coach, thanked him for the opportunity and sent positive energy to the fighter.
"Thank you so much for accepting the fight and coming to Brazil. It was an honor to share the octagon with you and your team. May God bless you always," the coach replied.
Currently ranked eighth in the lightweight division (up to 70,3 kg), Gamrot missed an opportunity to get closer to the belt for the first time in his career. His last setback occurred in 2024, when he was defeated by Dan Hooker in the judges' split decision.
