Returning to the UFC? Retired Dustin Poirier Admits He Misses Fighting: 'Part of Me Died'

In July, in Louisiana (USA), Dustin Poirier made his last appearance in the UFC. After being defeated at home by Max Holloway in the trilogy, 'The Diamond' left his gloves in the center of the octagon, ending his MMA career. But, it seems, the former interim lightweight champion (up to 70,3 kg) of the company may be close to returning to action.

During a Q&A session with fans on his official 'X' account, Poirier opened up. When an admirer confessed that he missed him in the UFC, the veteran also admitted that he missed the affection of the public and the fights.

When asked by another person if he misses competing, the former fighter shocked everyone by revealing that he feels a void from being retired. With such answers, part of the MMA community is already speculating about a possible return of 'The Diamond' to the UFC. It's worth noting that Poirier recently mentioned that he still wants to face Nate Diaz , either in the UFC or in boxing.

“Believe me, I miss it too. Every day. The moment my eyes open. I've been doing this for two decades and dedicated my life to it. A part of me has died,” wrote 'The Diamond'.

Poirier's Fighters and MMA History

Dustin Poirier , 36, is an MMA legend. The American began his career in the sport in 2009, debuted in the UFC in 2011, and retired in 2025. With the company, 'The Diamond' was the interim lightweight champion, fought for the undisputed title three times, and the 'BMF' title twice.

Over the years, 'The Diamond' built a record of 30 wins, ten losses, and one 'no contest' (no result). His main victories were over Anthony Pettis , Benoît Saint Denis, Conor McGregor (twice), Dan Hooker , Eddie Alvarez, Jim Miller , Justin Gaethje , Max Holloway (twice), and Michael Chandler.
