Alex Poatán was present at UFC Rio and liked what he saw. The striker stole the show when participating in the pre-event question and answer session, held last Friday (10), and was applauded by fans when he appeared at Farmasi Arena to watch the show. When asked by a fan if he'd be interested in competing in front of his friends and family, Poatan sent the crowd into a frenzy by responding that yes, defending the UFC light heavyweight (up to 93 kg) belt in Brazil is one of his priorities. It's true that, previously, the athlete stated that he chose to fight in the United States (often in Las Vegas and New York) because he lives there. But, seeing the synergy between Charles and his admirers, Alex practically assured that, one day, he'll reciprocate the affection of his legion of followers.

I fought in New York, at Madison Square Garden, where I had several big fights and did well. But now the time has come to truly think about Brazil. UFC stars and national idols Alex Pereira and Charles Olivira put on a show in their last fights. On October 4th, Poatan knocked out Magomed Ankalayev in the rematch in just over a minute of fighting and returned to the light heavyweight championship. A week later, on the 11th, Do Bronx submitted Gamrot in the second round and remained in the top-5 of the lightweight division (up to 70,3 kg).
