The former champion, who had been on a troubling two-fight losing streak, is breathing a sigh of relief. His career now boasts 25 wins, five losses, and one draw. The Pará native was previously the flyweight champion (up to 56,7 kg).

Jackson's streak has been broken. His career spans 15 wins and three losses as a professional fighter.

Deiveson lunged for a takedown from the first contact, but was denied. The former champion changed his strategy, decided to spin around the octagon to confuse the opponent, and tried again – this time with success. Aggressive, the Pará native persisted in the hold and attempted a back takedown, but Jackson parried and returned to his feet. In the hunt for the final stretch, Figueiredo landed a beautiful right hand on Montel, who nodded.

The referee signaled, and Deiveson went all out for the takedown. The Brazilian easily mounted, attempted the arm-and-neck choke, and ended up on his back. He tried to adjust the rear-naked choke, and once again, the American defended well. On the feet, the action was evenly balanced, and the fight became intense, with good moments on both sides.

In the third round, Montel was more effective and sought the takedown. 'Daico' refused to accept the position, easily breaking free and returning to his feet. With the slower pace, part of the crowd booed the fighters' lack of action. The former champion, with five seconds remaining, went for the takedown.
