In the main fight of the show, the former lightweight champion (up to 70,3 kg) faces Mateusz Gamrot seeking recovery in the company and to defend his position in the top-5 of the category.
In the co-main event of UFC Rio, Deiveson Figueiredo faces Montel Jackson in the bantamweight division (up to 61,2 kg). The former flyweight champion (up to 57 kg) aims to take advantage of home court advantage to end his losing streak, which has lasted two fights against an opponent riding a six-fight winning streak.

In his last fight, held in June, Charles was knocked out by Ilia Topuria in the first round, a fact that generated concern among fans. For many, the Brazilian had not yet recovered from the injuries sustained and returned to action too quickly. However, the athlete was determined to fight at home and sees Gamrot as the ideal chance for recovery.
Originally, Do Bronx was supposed to fight Rafael Fiziev , a striker, but Fiziev was injured and replaced by the Polish fighter. Now, the veteran, the UFC's all-time leading finisher and a pro who prefers striking, faces a grappler with clear limitations in his stand-up game. With an aggressive style and a high volume of strikes, the possibility of an underdog Charles landing a knockout is high, especially fighting in Brazil where he is undefeated.

Deiveson will need to leverage his MMA experience and skill set to overcome the American. After a strong start at bantamweight, the Brazilian lost two consecutive fights, the last of which resulted in a knockout and a knee injury. Now, the athlete is back against Jackson, who is enjoying the best phase of his career.
On paper, the duel has all the makings of a tough one for the veteran, who is the underdog. However, 'Daico' could benefit from fighting at home and, with the support of his fans, draw strength even from where he lacks it in the fight and, in the end, prevail by knockout or submission.
