Deiveson Figueiredo reveals unusual dream on the eve of an important fight at UFC Rio

Former flyweight champion projects victory over Montel Jackson, eyes new bantamweight belt and plans future in politics

Deiveson Figueiredo, definitely, does not measure dreams. The Pará native, who was already the UFC flyweight champion (up to 56,7 kg), sees his duel at UFC Rio, scheduled for next Saturday (11), as a great opportunity to reach the top of the bantamweight division and win his second Ultimate belt. However, his plans do not stop there.

In a press conference at UFC Rio's media day, Deiveson highlighted that his current goal is to win Montel Jackson to get closer to a title fight in the bantamweight division (up to 61,2 kg), as it is one of the few new challenges for the champion Merab Dvalishvili.

“My goal is to win on Saturday and I’m ready to face Merab DvalishviliIt’s a dream of mine and I know I have the potential to win,” he said. Deiveson Figueiredo.

The Pará native revealed that, beyond his dream of winning the double championship, his ambitions extend beyond the octagon's eight bars. Deiveson is considering entering politics and investing in projects aimed at developing new champions.

After losing the flyweight belt to Brandon Moreno, Deiveson Figueiredo found himself back in the bantamweight division and strung together three consecutive victories. However, his good run ended when he was paired with Petr yan, being defeated by unanimous decision.
