Charles of the Bronx is open to big changes in his career within the Ultimate. The Brazilian, who faces Mateusz gamrot in the main fight of UFC Rio, scheduled for Saturday (11), he is looking forward to moving up a category to, once again, make history.

In response to SUPER LUTAS' question at UFC Rio's media day, Charles of the Bronx left the doors open for a big career change and revealed that, if he receives a good offer, he is willing to move up to the Ultimate's welterweight division (up to 77 kg).

"Why not? If it's going to make money, if it's something good for my legacy, for my history, why not? In a good fight, why not? It would be good," he said from the Bronx.

Before thinking about changing categories, Charles of the Bronx has a commitment at UFC Rio: the Brazilian faces Mateusz gamrot, defending the fourth position in the lightweight division ranking (up to 70,3 kg) against the eighth placed.

Although the change of division still seems distant for Charles of the Bronx, there are already potential opponents ready to welcome the Brazilian to the new category. In an interview with Submission Radio in 2024, Colby covington provoked the former UFC lightweight champion (up to 70,3 kg) and suggested an unusual confrontation.

“Charles Oliveira, I am the most important fight you can make. Former world champion, the King of Brazil, the King of Miami, Donald Trump's favorite fighter. What would be greater for your legacy than facing me?” teased Covington.
