Rountree speaks out after knockout against Prochazka: 'It will take time to heal'

Former title challenger laments painful episode, but guarantees that he will return in 2026; athlete was defeated in the last round after a war with his rival

Hardly knocked out by Jiri Prochazka em luta crucial no UFC 320, Khalil rountree appears to have mixed feelings after seeing victory slip away in the final minutes of the fight. With a dominant performance in the first 10 minutes, the American eventually succumbed to his rival's power and suffered a defeat that deprived him of his dream chance to fight for the belt for a second time.

Without making excuses about his performance, the fighter spoke out on his social media, admitting that the moment is painful, but that next year he will be back in the octagon to seek rediscovery of the path to victory.

“Close. So close. I'm fine, I'm in good spirits. I'm grateful for every positive message and every comment expressing support for my dedication to this sport. To say I'll be back is an understatement. Never stop living! Never stop fighting for the good! For yourselves, for your families, for humanity until the end. Defeats hurt, not just for me. I'm only grateful for the platform and the entire team that makes this possible for us. I'm here for a while, you'll all see me there again next year, and win, lose, or draw, I will always fight to the last drop. This loss isn't easy, it will take time to heal and learn from it, but I promise you when I say that I will never be the same. See you in 2026,” declared Rountree.

At 35 years old, the veteran suffered his seventh loss in his career. Coming off a victory over Jamahal hill until facing Prochazka, the fighter highlighted his intention to avoid a war scenario against his rival, due to the danger that the former champion posed in situations like these.
