Once again light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg) in the UFC, Alex Poatán proved that he is capable of defeating Magomed Ankalayev in a violent and dominant manner. The target of harsh criticism for filming while preparing for a rematch against the Russian, the Brazilian broke the bank and knocked out his rival in less than two minutes.
In a statement following the victory, the Brazilian opened up to his team and acknowledged the improvements that were made for the fight in the UFC 320Determined to get revenge, the Brazilian emphasized that, for the first time, his diet and preparation were 100%.
"For me, it's been very special. Everyone's helping me, I really appreciate it. I apologize for any mistakes I may have made; sometimes the guy's at camp, I don't want to say anything. If I did something, I'll say it in advance, I want to apologize, and that's it. For me, everything went well, nothing to get in the way. I think I did the right thing this time. I've been doing things, maybe not 100% disciplined; I'm human, I'm flawed, but I've always been trying to improve. Even within the UFC PI (Performance Institute), I wanted to do everything right, even my diet, which is something I've never done right, right, Glover? I think. This time it was 100%," he said.

Despite regaining the light heavyweight throne, Poatan has expressed interest in moving up to the heavyweight division (up to 120,2 kg), seeking to have super fights against experienced opponents. The first target mentioned was Jon Jones, but it is not known what the American's plans will be after the unfortunate death of his brother Arthur Jones.
