Alex Poatan reveals suspected fracture after UFC 320 win: 'I'm almost certain it broke'

The Brazilian said he believes he injured his foot in the first kick against Magomed Ankalaev and will undergo tests to confirm the severity.

In an interview almost immediately after the knockout, in the post-event, Poatan said that the discomfort appeared with the first kick applied against the Russian and that the impact made him believe it was a possible bone injury.

"Yeah, we'll have to see how it heals, but I'm pretty sure it's broken. I was kicking his legs, and when he shifted position, as soon as I kicked his front leg, I felt my foot (break). So we'll have to see," the champion explained.

Despite the discomfort, the Brazilian kept going and needed just 1 minute and 20 seconds to seal the fight with a brutal knockout and regain the UFC light heavyweight title.

Poatan's team must carry out tests in the coming days to assess the extent of the damage and determine the recovery time for the fighter, who recently expressed his desire to move up a category and challenge Jon Jones in heavyweight (up to 120,2 kg).
