Alex Poatán showed all his respect for Jon Jones. After knocking out Magomed Ankalayev in the main fight of UFC 320On Saturday (4), in Las Vegas (USA), the light heavyweight champion (up to 93 kg) took advantage of the spotlight to express his solidarity with the American, who lost his brother Arthur Jones, 39, suddenly, last Friday (3). The cause of death of the former NFL player was not disclosed.
Visibly affected by the sad news, Poatan declined to ask for a subsequent fight for the heavyweight title (up to 120,2 kg) or a boxing bout, instead showing his sensitive and human side. And the Brazilian's attitude isn't surprising.
It's worth noting that the Brazilian has a close relationship with Jones. In fact, the UFC stars have expressed interest in a superfight and exchanged compliments.
“I wanted to tell you something. I had a speech ready to give. After this victory, I had already spoken to my entire team, but things didn't go so well. I wanted to leave a message for you. Jon Jones, out of respect for him and his entire family. I had a whole speech prepared. Let's all observe a minute of silence in respect for your brother (who passed away)," said the UFC champion.

Alex Poatán destroyed Magomed Ankalayev in the highly anticipated rematch. More aggressive in the octagon, the Brazilian displayed power and technique, knocking out his rival in just over a minute. Thus, the renowned striker became light heavyweight champion for the second time.
