Whittaker downplays the talent of Poatan's former rivals and believes Ankalaev will win again

The Australian shares Tom Aspinall's opinion and argues that the Brazilian had opponents who were 'well-placed' in his UFC career.

O UFC 320 It's coming soon, and there's a lot of talk about the big rematch between Magomed Ankalayev e Alex Poatán, which takes place this Saturday (04), in Las Vegas (USA). Amid debate about who wins the second fight, many fans and experts have divided opinions, despite the Russian being considered a big favorite by bookmakers.

This time, Robert whittaker used the spotlight to weigh in on the matchup and didn't shy away from controversy when discussing his thoughts on the technical fit between the two athletes. In the Australian's view, Poatan is accustomed to facing opponents "prepared for the kill," while Ankalaev is the one who deviates from the norm and, consequently, poses more danger.

"Ankalaev has the skill set to beat Poatan, because look at the opponents Poatan faced. Yes, he beat them, but those guys weren't the kind of guys he could beat. There aren't many of those guys in the division who are heavyweights, who are wrestlers who mix things up," Whittaker stated in a video recorded for his podcast.

In the first fight, Poatan struggled to deal with the Russian's grid game and even asked for a review of the rules shortly after being announced as the loser. Despite this, the Brazilian managed to block all 12 of Ankalaev's takedown attempts.

The rematch takes place this Saturday (04) and Poatan does not hesitate to say that, this time, the scenario will be different. In search of greater aggressiveness, the former champion promises to knock out his rival in Las Vegas.
