Despite being the underdog in the bookmakers' minds, the fighter promises to knock out his rival and doesn't hesitate to make his future plans clear, should everything go his way.
Victorious against many elite athletes in the division, the Brazilian reinforced his desire to face a prospect who has been making noise and beating everyone he puts in front of him: Carlos UlbergIn Poatan's view, the New Zealander is the challenger who deserves a chance to face the champion next.

"Certainly, the way he's coming along, showing excellent work, with everything going well, he should be next, because I've been through many athletes who are at the top, so he's the one who makes the most sense," said Poatan during a press conference held in Las Vegas.

Riding a nine-fight win streak in the organization and currently ranked third, Ulberg made no secret of his preference for facing Ankalaev over Poatan in a potential title fight. This statement was made before his victory in... UFC Perth, when he knocked out Dominick reyes in his last fight.
