Ian Machado Garry will have another great opportunity on his way to the welterweight belt (up to 77kg). The Irishman, who sharpens his game at Chute Boxe Diego Lima, has been confirmed as the protagonist of the co-main event of UFC Qatar, against the former champion of the category, Belal Muhammad , on November 22, in Doha. Ian Garry represents the new generation of the division. The 28-year-old Irishman arrives riding a nine-fight winning streak in ten appearances in the company's octagon. The Irishman, who is ranked sixth, has only lost to Shavkat Rakhmonov by points.

In his last fight, he defeated Carlos Prates by decision at UFC Kansas City , which was the main event of the night. Despite being pressured at times, Garry showed quality and technical dominance throughout the rounds.

Belal Muhammad tries to get back on the path to the belt

A veteran of the division, former champion, and number one ranked fighter, Belal Muhammad arrives at the fight under pressure. He lost his welterweight title in his last appearance at UFC 315 in August, when he was defeated by Jack Della Maddalena by unanimous decision. Although he tried to impose his rhythm, Belal struggled against the Australian's sharp striking and takedown defense.

Before the defeat, Belal was in great form: he had accumulated 11 fights without losing, including victories over Vicente Luque , Gilbert Burns , and Sean Brady . The former champion had won the belt by beating Leon Edwards by unanimous decision at UFC 304.
