Considered the greatest heavyweight fighter in MMA history, Fedor Emelianenko recently announced that he will compete again. The Russian has not yet defined the organization for which he will fight, but revealed that he is negotiating with the UFC. Furthermore, he has a special desire: to face the Brazilian Fabricio Werdum.
Werdum is in Emelianenko's sights not only because he is the current UFC champion, but also because he was responsible for ending the Russian's long unbeaten run in 2010.
“Negotiations are ongoing, both with the UFC and other organizations. I think this will be finally defined soon. As for the opponent, I think desire must obey opportunities. I would like to face the strongest fighters in the world, the UFC champion Fabricio Werdum. Considering that I haven't fought in the last three years, in the first fight I would like to get involved and see how I am. So, now I'm going to regain my physical shape and then I'm going to start training”, commented Emelianenko, in a press conference reproduced by the North American website “Bloody Elbow”.
Now 38 years old, Emelianenko has a record of 34 wins, four losses and one no-contest. Among his victims in sport are Rodrigo Minotauro, Mirko Cro Cop, Andrei Arlovski, Mark Hunt and Mark Coleman. His last fight was in 2012, when he knocked out Pedro Rizzo.
