The provocations of Paulo borrachinha up from Khamzat Shimaev do not cease. Since 'fight week' UFC 318, the Brazilian has been suggesting a duel with 'Lobo' to resolve personal issues. After winning Roman Kopylov, Borrachinha revealed screenshots of provocative messages sent by the Chechen fighter to the Minas Gerais native's wife. The desire to face Khamzat is so great that the Brazilian middleweight (up to 83,9 kg) is willing to face him anywhere.

“Khamzat is a coward, he is an idiot. I need to fight him somehow. If he retires, I think that's quite possible. But then I need to meet him at some restaurant, in some parking lot. Or, you know, I need to find another place to fix my business, my deal with him. I'm coming after you. You know I won't lie to anyone. I don't need this. You know who I am. Rivalry between Borrachinha and Chimaev began in 2022

Borrachinha's threat is yet another chapter in the intense rivalry that has been going on since 2022, when the two clashed at the UFC Performance Institute in Las Vegas. The tension nearly escalated into a physical confrontation, and the tension between the two has only worsened since then.

Initially scheduled to face each other in the UFC 294, in October 2023, the duel was canceled due to an infection in Borrachinha's elbow. However, the flame of the dispute was rekindled in the months leading up to UFC 318, held last Saturday (19).

During the week of the fight, Borrachinha accused Chimaev of sending disrespectful messages to his wife Tamara Alves on Instagram, including sexual and homophobic comments, as well as references to the Brazilian's famous defeat to Israel adesanyaIn 2020.

"He sent a photo of the fight against Adesanya and wrote: 'Your man is not man enough. See, he likes black men. You should look for someone better,'" the Minas Gerais native told journalist Ariel Helwani.

Chimaev, in turn, responded with irony on X. The Chechen even stated that "she wrote to me, my dear," insinuating that the messages came from the Brazilian's girlfriend. Borrachinha later categorically denied this and called his rival a "coward" and a "liar."

Could Borrachinha and Chimaev face each other in the future?
