The scenario of the Ultimate's heaviest division continues to generate interesting discussions for the MMA world. With the retirement of Jon Jones recently, Khabib Nurmagomedov came forward to discuss the situation. According to the former lightweight champion (up to 70,3 kg), Tom aspinall is without a doubt the best heavyweight (up to 120,2 kg) in the world today, while Bones' peak is over.

The statement was made in an interview with journalist Adam Zubayraev in the latest edition of HUSTLE SHOW, this Tuesday (22). Khabib, who has been retired since October 2020, is a big supporter of the idea that professional athletes only have one physical and technical peak.
"He's 38 now. How many fights has he had? One or two in five years. He'd been out for a while, and even those last fights—Santos and Reyes—were controversial. His prime was clearly past. His prime was long gone," he said.
Khabib says Jon Jones is past his prime and believes Tom aspinall is the best heavyweight in the world right now.

When asked about Jones' decision to avoid a fight with Aspinall, the Russian was honest in admitting that it is difficult to answer this question while the Englishman is still at the beginning of his career.
For Khabib, Tom Aspinall is the best in the world
"Whether or not he should have (faced Aspinall) will probably be a question that will always be around. But another question is: only when Aspinall retires will we truly understand his level. It will be very difficult for Tom to match Jones' legacy. But right now, for me, he's the best heavyweight in the world," he concluded.
