Holloway opens door for rematches with Charles do Bronx and Ilia Topuria after victory at UFC 318

Last Saturday (19), MMA fans witnessed Dustin Poirier 's farewell at UFC 318, but Max Holloway stole the show . The Hawaiian put on a real war against the 'Diamond', emerged victorious and is now excited about the next steps in his career. With his future open, he is already aiming for big challenges, including rematches against big names.

During the post-event press conference, Holloway made it clear that he is willing to face any of the top names in the lightweight division (up to 70,3kg). Without specifying a particular opponent, he indicated that he would accept a rematch against Ilia Topuria for the title, or even a second encounter with Charles Oliveira , with whom he already has a history in the octagon.

“If it’s Ilia, the ball is in the UFC’s court, you know? I’m always up for it. If it’s Ilia, it’s Ilia. If it’s the guy he just beat… Yeah, Oliveira ( Charles do Bronx )… I have history with him. In the entire top 10 there are many fun fights for me here at lightweight, and I’m excited,” said Holloway.

The BMF champion emphasized that MMA is built on great moments and described his victory over Dustin Poirier as another milestone in his career. Now, Holloway confidently awaits the next steps, remaining open to any challenge the UFC decides to put in his path.

"I've been saying this all week, man. This sport is about moments. This sport is about having great moments. I'm happy to have come here and made this moment happen. We'll see what happens," said the Hawaiian.

In August 2015, Max Holloway faced Charles Oliveira in the main event of UFC Fight Night 74, held in Canada. The fight, valid for the featherweight division, ended in the first round after the Brazilian suffered a collarbone injury, which sealed the victory for the Hawaiian.

The confrontation with Ilia Topuria took place more recently, at UFC 308 in October 2024. On that occasion, Holloway entered as a title challenger and ended up being knocked out by the Spaniard in the main event.
