McGregor and Mendes receive $1 million for UFC 189 main fight

Conor McGregor e Chad Mendes they had one of the biggest fights in recent times, and this was reflected in the salaries received by the fighters. According to the Nevada Athletic Commission, the protagonists of the main fight of UFC 189 together pocketed a whopping US$1 million.

Even though McGregor won the fight by technical knockout in the second round, both athletes received US$500 each. This is because the Irishman's contract for the fight does not provide for the usual bonus for victory, but rather a slice of the funds acquired by Ultimate through the sale of pay per view for the event. Therefore, the interim featherweight champion should receive even more after the number of packages sold is announced.

Robbie Lawler, welterweight champion, received the third highest salary of the night, with US$300. This includes $150 for the performance, plus a $150 bonus for winning. Rory McDonald, defeated in combat, took US$59.

The list released by the Nevada Commission does not include the bonuses given by the UFC for “Performance of the Night” and “Fight of the Night”, and it also does not include the amount given with the Reebok sponsorship agreement.
