The rivalry between Vitor Belfort and Wanderlei Silva has gained a new chapter (and a new dimension). Spaten officially announced, this Tuesday (16), the long-awaited rematch between the two MMA legends with one of the biggest drone shows ever held in Latin America.

In total, 1.100 synchronized drones lit up the São Paulo sky to reveal the fighters' names and faces in 3D animations, creating a visual presentation unprecedented in the country. The announcement marked the beginning of the countdown to the second edition of Spaten Fight Night, an event taking place on September 27th in São Paulo.

The fight between Belfort and Wanderlei will be contested under boxing rules, over eight two-minute rounds, at a catchweight of 93 kg.

“We listened to what fans have been asking for for a long time and announced it in an innovative way, with the largest drone show ever held in Latin America,” said Cinthia Klumpp, Marketing Director at Spaten.

The first (and so far only) meeting between the two Brazilians took place in 1998, also in São Paulo, in the UFC. Belfort won by technical knockout in less than a minute—a result that began a rivalry that lasted decades but never saw a second chapter.

For years, public provocations and expectations of a rematch clashed with contracts, event policies, and different career milestones. Now, Spaten is making their rematch in the ring possible.
