C. Monstro ended up submitted in the TUF 21 Finale
After the historic UFC 189, held last Saturday (11), Sunday is also UFC day. The TUF 21 Finale, an event that will crown the winning team of the season of the Ultimate reality show, brought two Brazilians into action who left the octagon defeated. The premiere of Cezar Mutant in the welterweight division (up to 77 kg.) it was very different from what was expected. Champion of TUF Brazil 1 among middleweights (up to 84 kg.), the Brazilian started the fight well against Jorge masvidal, but due to an oversight, in the first round, he ended up being knocked out.
Tall and strong for the category, Mutante had an encouraging start to the competition. He worked with good combinations in the stand-up fight until he took down the American and fought on the ground. The Brazilian reached half guard, but Masvidal managed to get up.
Cezar tried the takedown again, but the fight ended in the clinch. At this moment, with little space, the North American threw a short elbow and the Brazilian felt it. Masvidal took advantage of the moment, landing another blow until Mutante fell. On the ground, he connected two more punches and achieved a technical knockout.
Monster is finished and gets angry with rival
The Brazilian Gaius Monster lost his four-fight UFC winning streak in surprising fashion at the TUF 21 Finale. A jiu-jitisu black belt, the Ceará native ended up submitted by Josh Samman, a stand-up specialist.
The fight, which closed the preliminary card, started with Samman taking the initiative. The North American landed some boxing attacks, but Caio responded with a quick counterattack. However, after connecting with a punch to Monstro's nose, Josh took the fight to the ground and opened the way to victory.
The North American took advantage of a frustrated armbar attempt from the Brazilian, moved to his back and secured a tight rear-naked choke 2m52s into the fight. Monstro hit several times, but Samman did not release the position until the referee ended the dispute.
After the confrontation, still irritated by the defeat, Caio even spat blood in his rival's direction. The public booed the Brazilian. Calmer, the Ceará native went to his rival, extended his hand and apologized.
